Getting ready for your puppy can be overwhelming, here is a few tips and tricks to help you prepare!
Supplies to keep on hand:
Hydrogen Peroxide
Pepto (liquid)
Canned Pumpkin (upset stomach)
Termometer
Nail trimmers

Equipment Needed:
-
Dog Food – We feed and recommend Purina Pro Plan Puppy, your puppy will come home with a small bad. You can always work on transitioning him to a different dog food later.
-
Food and Water Bowls – We recommend using stainless steel bowls.
-
Collar and ID tag – Your dog is in a new area. If he gets lost, an ID tag can improve the chances of your pet being returned to you. I suggest getting a collar, without a tag.
-
Leash – This is a necessity for walks around the neighbourhood and leash training. Walking freely in an unfenced area, could result in an accident.
-
Poop Bags – We always recommend cleaning up after your dog.
-
Dog Crate – It’s ideal for crate training and to give your dog a space to call his own. We recommend a smaller kennel to start with or one with a divider
-
Toys- We love the kong toys, stuff less toys, and nylon toys. We do not recommend rawhides.

Preparing the house:
Puppies need a safe, secure, and quiet places to sleep – just like babies! So create a spot of their own and decide where they will sleep. WE STRONGLY recommend crate training. Link to crate
Starting with your new pet’s allocated room, go through your house checking for potential issues. Starting out-
-
Very small spaces where they could get stuck
-
Open fireplaces
-
Cleaning fluids, disinfectants and medicines
-
Electric cables that your pet could chew
-
Wall scent plug ins
-
Open toilet lids
-
Fragile ornaments
-
Any toxic foods within easy reach
-
Small objects that could be swallowed
-
Anything that could be chewed on
